The Transformative Effect of Freshly Squeezed Juices

When it comes to freshly squeezed juices, we’re inspired by Dr. Norman Walker’s extensive knowledge and expertise. A true pioneer in the field of fresh fruit and vegetable juices, Dr. Walker has dedicated his entire life to the study of healthy living. The impressive fact that he himself lived to the age of 116 speaks to the transformative effect of these juices.

Why Are Freshly Squeezed Juices so Effective?

Better energy efficiency and relief from the digestive system

When we eat vegetables whole, the micronutrients have to be separated from the plant fibers through extensive digestive work. As a result, a large part of the energy we receive from food is used by our bodies for digestive work and separating the active ingredients from the fibers.

While the coarse plant fibers are sorted out in freshly pressed juice, a large part of the soluble fiber remains in the juice. The soluble fiber is very valuable for our microbiome because it serves as food for the colon bacteria.

High bioavailability and high nutrient density

By pressing fresh leafy greens, vegetables or fruits, the cell walls of the plant fibers are broken down, the fibers are sorted out as pomace. The remaining juice contains high amounts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants and phytonutrients available to our bodies. When consumed on an empty stomach, the nutrients can usually be absorbed within a few minutes.

Hydration and detoxification

Adequate supply of fluids is fundamental for all metabolic processes and there’s actually nothing that happens in our bodies without water. It’s therefore bliss for our digestive system to receive an abundance of nutrients surrounded by alkaline-forming plant cell water. This facilitates digestion, excretion and enables detoxification.

Alkaline-forming, mineral-rich plant cell water supports the acid-base balance in our bodies and enables the breakdown of metabolic waste products and toxins. This detoxifying effect is significantly supported by enzymes, antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Drink The Rainbow – Discover The Power of Colors!

The more colorful we make our diet, the more we benefit from the positive effects of plant pigments.

🥒 The chlorophyll in greenery supports the development of new blood cells, has a cleansing and detoxifying effect, protects against carcinogenic substances and promotes wound healing.

🍋🍊 The yellow and orange coloring in fruits and vegetables comes from carotenoids. These are essential for cell building and repair, strengthen the immune system and offer protection against cancer, eye diseases and premature skin aging.

🌶 Red fruits and vegetables owe their color to lycopene. Lycopene stimulates the cardiovascular system, has an invigorating effect, intercepts free radicals and helps prevent vascular deposits, cancer and skin and cell aging.

🍆 Blue and purple plant substances, the anthocyanins, are among nature’s strongest antioxidants. They protect our cells from premature aging and cancer, have an anti-inflammatory effect and promote vision and memory.

Drink Freshly Squeezed Juices Slowly and Always On an Empty Stomach!

Freshly squeezed juices should not be part of a meal. It’s best to drink juices first thing in the morning as the first meal, so that the body can absorb the nutrients most efficiently. Juice is quickly digested and fusel alcohol will form if it’s on top of a heavy meal or combined with various ingredients.

Take your time to consume the juice and really savor it. This will stimulate saliva production and carbohydrate digestion can already begin in the mouth.

Juicing Method Is Very Important

Gentle pressing with a low number of revolutions and minimal oxygen turbulence is important, so we definitely recommend a juicer with pressing screws. With this method, the fruits and vegetables are chopped and pressed against a fine sieve.

Centrifugal juicers operate at very high rotation speeds. They swirl too much oxygen into the juice during juicing and are less suitable for preserving nutrients.

If you don’t have a juicer, you can also make juices in a blender and then pour through a strainer or nut milk bag.

Preparation and Application

Choose leafy greens, vegetables and fruits that are organically grown, so you don’t end up with a poisonous cocktail instead of a healing elixir. Wild herbs are also especially nutrient-rich.

Leafy greens, vegetables and fruits can be juiced individually or combined.

Dr. Norman Walker’s top ingredients for freshly squeezed juices are carrots, celery, beets, cucumbers, dandelions, endives, spinach, parsley, any leafy greens, sprouts, apples, lemons, oranges and grapefruits.

Since we now get almost only hybrid fruits, even in organic markets, Dr. Switzer tops freshly squeezed juices with microgreens or wild plants such as goutweed, nettle, dandelion, wild garlic and more.

Other vegetable juice variations:

  • 2 celery stalks, 1 cucumber
  • 2 handfuls of leafy greens (kale, spinach, parsley), 1 cucumber, 1 lemon
  • 2 beets, 1 apple, 1 cucumber, 1/2 lemon, 1 small piece of ginger
  • 3 carrots, 2 oranges, 1 small piece of turmeric
  • 2 celery stalks, 1 handful of spinach, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 lemon
  • 1 handful of parsley, 1 pineapple, 1 small piece of turmeric

Shelf Life

We recommend only making as much juice as you plan on drinking right away. Most of the vital substances contained in freshly squeezed juices are sensitive to oxygen, heat and light. It’s therefore advisable to drink juice slowly and in sips immediately after pressing. This is the best way to benefit from the nutrients.

If juice is to be stored, it’s important to keep it in a dark place, preferably in a closed glass bottle in the fridge. Lemon and ginger help to reduce oxidation.

Conclusion

Every meal that’s replaced by a freshly squeezed juice is a gift to your body in the form of abundant nutrients and a break from the digestive work it constantly has to do.

Treat your body regularly to a juice meal, a juice day or a juice cleanse and enjoy internal cleansing, detoxification and the resulting mental clarity!
